The pursuit of individuality
Human beings generally wish to be
perceived as individuals with a unique
personality. Therefore, the dental team
consisting of dentist and dental
technician should inform patients about
the possibilities of customizing the
appearance of tooth restorations,
particularly in the fabrication of con-
ventional or implant-supported quality
dentures.
In this Special Edition, particular emphasis
will be placed on the individual characte-
rization of denture teeth and denture
bases. Several different methods of
imparting an individual appearance to
tooth restorations will be highlighted.
Insight into various procedures will be
provided, ranging from the simple
modification of the tooth shape by
grinding to the characterization of teeth
using veneering composite.
Eventually, it is for the patient to decide
how much individuality he or she would
like – a wide range of options is available
to the lab technician to create the desired
effects.
