Contouring of the gingival outline
Standardized gingival outlines usually do
not yield a satisfactory outcome when
customized dentures are fabricated. To
better highlight the differences, I have
contrasted black-and-white images.
Apart from ensuring an individualized
appearance of the gingival margin, the
gingival contours also influence the
tooth shape. For example, gingival
margins that are too high or too low
usually make the tooth appear too long
or too short.
